Club history

Sudbury Court Running Club was formed in May 1999 as a result of a decision made by a group of runners that had previously met informally each Tuesday for a run and a social drink.  Originally the group had consisted of members of the Serpentine Running Club based in Hyde Park using the Tuesday meeting for Harrow and Wembley members to meet at Vale Farm Sports Centre to run on a regular basis.  Over the years other runners joined the group but not the Serpentine Club.

Following its creation the Sudbury Court Running Club took its name from the Sudbury Court Sports Club where the group had moved to earlier in 1999.  The club developed, achieving and maintaining a membership of around 30 members, it became and is currently affiliated to the South of England Athletics Association governed by the British Athletic Federation (BAF).

In June 2004 the Sudbury Court Sports Club ceased to exist, as a result the Sudbury Court Running Club took up temporary residence with Wembley Cricket while an alternative base could be found.  In September 2004 the club moved to its present home at Wembley and Sudbury Tennis and Squash Club.  This club has a long history having been formed in 1901 as a tennis club, the squash section was formed in 1965, both sports support teams in leagues.

The running club continues to develop with a current membership of 51 including 6 juniors, in addition to road running members take part in cross country events during the winter and a 10k Summer League during June, July and August.
